Seamaster Chronometers made post 1952 are one of Omega's seldom seen vintage watches. They featured all of the rugged spottiness of the Seamaster line coupled with an officially certified chronometer movement.
After their release and after Omega divided the line into two models in 1952, the "plain" Seamaster, a sport watch without chronometer certification, and the Constellation, the higher-end chronometer option, Omega only made a relatively few Seamaster Chronometers.
1960's and early 70's Seamasters are great long-term buys as parts are readily available for their well-made movements, and they're not hard to service, even the chronometer versions like this watch.
It is all-original down to the untouched dial, hands, winding crown, "beads of rice" bracelet, and even original signed Omega crystal!
It is in beautiful original condition. Its full size case - 35mm in diameter which is in between the size of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust - is better than near mint.
Its original dial shows is better than near mint with only very light aging and light warming in tone, giving it a true vintage look. Its original "Beads of Rice" bracelet presents as just short of mint with light signs of havinb been polished.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled its officially certified chronometer movement down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment. It winds extremely smoothly and is keeping very accurate time, Photos of the inside available upon request.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
A very fine watch with truly impressive capabilities.
Note: A published example of a Seamaster chronometer watch can be found in John Goldberger's work Omega Watches, 2005, pg. 137.
