A Dunhill 'Jet Plane' Lighter that is modeled after the famous American F-86 Sabre transonic jet fighter aircraft. This aircraft set its first official world speed record of 570 mph (920 km/h) in September 1948. This table lighter first appeared in the Dunhill catalog in 1954 and came in two finishes; Chrome (like this one) and a black lacquer. The production ceased of this model ceased in 1961. It is operated by depressing the button fitted in the nose of the plane, and the canopy springs open, working the flint wheel and sparking the flame. Lighter fluid is filled into the screw in the base of the plane.
